Rubber products are affected by various external environmental factors, such as distortion, oxygen, ozone, light, heat source, moisture, oil, or the influence of chemical solvents, rubber products may fail due to the change of their physical and chemical properties. In DIN7716, ISO2230, DIN9088 and other standards on the storage, cleaning, maintenance of rubber seals do the basic provisions. 

1, temperature: 5-25℃ is the ideal storage temperature. Avoid contact with heat sources and sunlight. Seals removed from low temperature storage should be placed in an environment of 20℃ before they are used. 

2, humidity: the relative humidity of the warehouse should be less than 70%, avoid too wet or too dry, do not appear condensation phenomenon. 

3, light: to avoid the sun and strong artificial light source containing ultraviolet. Uv proof packaging provides the best protection. Red or orange paint or film is recommended for warehouse Windows. 

4. Radiation: avoid ionizing radiation damage to seals. 

5, oxygen and ozone: rubber materials should avoid exposure to circulating air. This can be done by packaging, wrapping, storing in airtight containers, or other appropriate means. Ozone is harmful to most elastomers, so avoid the following equipment in the warehouse: mercury vapor lamp, high voltage electrical equipment, motor and other equipment. 

6, deformation: rubber parts should be placed in a free state as far as possible, to avoid stretching, compression or other deformation. 

7, contact with liquid or semi-solid materials: do not contact solvents, oil, grease or other semi-solid materials. 

8. Contact with metal or non-metal materials: do not contact magnetic materials, cast iron, copper and its alloys, or contain materials that will damage rubber. Do not use PVC material to pack seals. Seals of different materials can not be mixed. 

9, cleaning: according to need, can use soap, water to clean the seal. But water can not contact fiber reinforced seals, rubber metal bonding seals, AU material seals. Disinfectants, organic solvents and tools with sharp edges shall not be used. The cleaned seals should be dried at room temperature, away from heat sources. 

The preservation life of seals is determined by the material category and storage conditions of rubber. Under the recommended storage conditions, the storage life of each material seal is as follows:

Polyurethane, thermoplastic materials for 4 years

NBR, hydrogenated NBR, neoprene rubber for 6 years

Ethylene-propylene rubber 8 years

Fluorine rubber, silicone rubber, fluorine silicone rubber 10 years

Perfluorinated rubber for 20 years

Teflon is indefinite

After the above period, the characteristics of rubber parts should be checked before use, or they can still be used for a period of time.
