The difference between rubber and plastic is: different properties, different components, different uses.  

First, different nature  

1, rubber: refers to a high elastic polymer material with reversible deformation.  

2. Plastic: refers to the plastic (flexible) material formed by processing, or rigid material formed by curing and crosslinking.  

Two, the composition is different  

1, rubber: is made of latex, latex contains a part of the non-rubber components in the solid natural rubber.  General natural rubber contains rubber hydrocarbon 92%-95%, and non-rubber hydrocarbon accounted for 5%-8%.  Due to different production methods, different producing areas and even different rubber seasons, the proportion of these components may be different, but basically within the range.  

2, plastic: with high molecular weight synthetic resin as the main component, add appropriate additives, such as plasticizer, stabilizer, flame retardant, lubricant, colorant, etc..  

Three, different uses  

1, rubber: not only to provide people with daily life indispensable, medical and other light industrial rubber products, but also to mining, transportation, construction, machinery, electronics and other heavy and emerging industries to provide a variety of rubber production equipment or rubber parts.  

2, plastic: pieces are widely used in every field of life today, such as household appliances, instruments and meters, wires and cables, construction equipment, communication electronics, automobile industry, aerospace, daily hardware, etc  

The essential difference between rubber and plastic is broken down into chunks:  

Four, from the feel of the touch, the feel of rubber is soft, comfortable and delicate, and has a certain elasticity, the plastic is completely elastic, has a certain rigidity, because it is hard, more brittle.  

5. From the view of tensile stress-strain curve, plastics show a high Young's modulus at the initial stage of tensile, and the stress-strain curve has a steep rise, and then yield, extension and fracture (brittle plastics do not yield deformation, directly fracture);  Rubber usually has an obvious stress rise at the stage of minor deformation, and then enters a gentle rise stage, until the fracture is about to show a sharp rise in the stress-strain curve (usually resulting in the final sudden rise of stress is strain-induced crystallization).  The elongation at break of rubber is usually much greater than that of plastic materials.  

Six, from the perspective of thermodynamics, plastic in the use of temperature range in the material vitrification temperature below (glass state), and rubber is working in its vitrification temperature above the high elastic state.  

Seven, plastic and rubber is the most essential difference between plastic deformation plastic deformation, and rubber is elastic deformation.  In other words, plastic does not return to its original state easily, whereas rubber does so much more easily.  Plastic is very elastic, usually less than 100%, whereas rubber can reach 1000% or more.  Plastic forming on the vast majority of the molding process is finished product process is completed;  And the rubber molding process after the completion of the vulcanization process.
