Physical and chemical properties of silicone rubber O-ring: silicone rubber sealing ring is a kind of saturated non-polar rubber based on the silicon element obtained from quartz and formed by the adhesion of silicon atoms to side chains such as methyl and vinyl. Different side chains lead to different properties of silicone rubber. Methylvinyl silicone rubber (VMQ) is one of the most widely used silicone rubber materials. Silicone rubber sealing ring has excellent heat resistance, low temperature elasticity and especially excellent oxidation and ozone resistance performance, with high air permeability and selectivity to gas penetration. Good electrical insulation (volume resistance > 10ohm. Cm, breakdown voltage above 30kV /mm), corona resistance and arc resistance. However, the addition of conductive carbon black, nickel powder, aluminum powder and silver powder can obtain appropriate electrical conductivity (volume resistance up to 5-0.02ohm. Cm). Silicone rubber sealing ring surface energy is low, with hygroscopic, can play an isolation role. Water resistance, but water vapor resistance is not good, the pressure over 50psi is not recommended. Compatible with most oils, chemicals and solvents. General silicone rubber acid and alkaline good resistance, polar solvent resistance, alkanes and aromatic oil resistance. Not recommended for use in most concentrated solvents, oils, concentrated acids and diluted caustic soda solutions. Special silicone rubber also has radiation resistance, fire resistance, oil resistance and other properties. It is generally not used for dynamic sealing because of its low tensile strength and weak wear resistance.
Silicone rubber has good heat resistance, cold resistance, ozone resistance, atmospheric aging resistance. Good electrical insulation. Tensile strength and wear resistance than the general rubber is poor and does not have oil resistance.
Silicone rubber has good heat resistance. It can work for a long time at 180℃, and it can still be elastic for several weeks slightly higher than 200℃. It can withstand high temperature above 300℃ for an instant. Silicone rubber has good air permeability.
